Background and skills : apart Video/Data Management, SurgiMedia engineers and clinical specialists were at the forefront of emerging technologies in Computer Assisted Surgery and gained their experience through leading companies in this field. It is the combination of solid expertise in the field of surgery and technical expertise – in as much software as robotics – that allows this team to develop high performing products adapted to the needs and constraints of surgical teams. SurgiMedia offers expertise in the form of consulting on the technical realm of the operating room in areas such as: DICOM radiologic images transfer and display, video or computer sources management and display, video transmission, robotics, lasers, surgical navigation, surgical software, and the centralized command of devices.
SurgiScope® was one of the former systems, it is a robotized tool-holder designed for surgical neuro-navigation and was developed by our engineers at the company early beginnings. Specifically designed for microscope-assisted neurosurgical applications. Equipped with numerous automated functions and ergonomic interfaces, the SurgiScope® is controlled by an easy-to-use touch-screen and, equipped with an instrument holder kit, the SurgiScope® can hold and precisely position endoscopic tools or biopsy needles. The surgeon no longer needs to lift the microscope eyepiece to see surgical display screens as, pioneer in virtual reality, the SurgiScope’s image injection module displays correlated data in the microscope oculars, directly within the surgeon’s field of view. Even if SurgiScope® was a real technical success, and 20 devices among the 40 sold still used in practice, this product is not promoted and sold any more.
Consulting services : national training organizations like the National Center of Hospital Expertise (CNEH) or engineering associations like the French Association of Biomedical Engineers (AFIB) consult us regularly to present on state of the art medical equipment in Surgical Robotics, in Computer-Assisted Surgery or Video/Data Management. Similarly, SurgiMedia applications engineers regularly assist in training sessions for state licensed operating room nurses (IBODEs) for institutions such as the Military and University hospitals.
