Begins With The Family
Karex Berhad (“Karex”) started as a family business with a manufacturing capacity of only 60 million pieces of condom per annum. On 6 November 2013 Karex was listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.
Today, Karex has 3 manufacturing facilities across Pontian, Johor, Port Klang Selangor and Hat Yai, Thailand together with a workforce of 2,000 employees with the capacity to produce 4 billion pieces of condom per annum making us the largest condom manufacturer in the world.

Every region has its own regulatory bodies to monitor and approve medical devices and Karex has the necessary licenses, certifications and accreditations to export to more than 110 countries across Africa, Asia, America and Europe. With these key licenses, Karex is readily able to supply to different geographical regions all across the world and provide its customers with flexibility to enter new markets. Besides manufacturing condoms, we also manufacture lubricating jelly and other medical devices such as catheters and probe covers.
Our list of clientele consists of commercial global brand owners, government and non-government agencies. Karex also manufactures condoms under its own brands namely “Carex” and “INNO” which are mainly exported to the Middle Eastern countries.
Constant Innovation & Expansion
At Karex, we design and develop our primary manufacturing machines in house, namely the dipping machines, electronic testing machines and foiling machines. This allows us to customize and produce condoms according to the changing needs of consumers today thus giving us a competitive edge. At the same time, our in-house R&D has been constantly designing and developing new products which differ in terms of shape, sizes, texture/surface, colours, flavors and fragrances.
We are currently on an expansion plan to increase our capacity to 6 billion pieces by end of 2015. This expansion will be carried out across all 3 manufacturing facilities. As part of our future plans, we intend to enhance our automation process by integrating and automating the electronic testing and foiling functions into one machine. This will help to reduce our reliance on manual labour and increase operating efficiency.
