tpm® taberna pro medicum GmbH is the global leader in digital high frequency and high resolution ultrasound for skin diagnostics in medicine and cosmetics. From the founding in 1978 to date tpm® has been an advanced, highly sophisticated technically oriented company, certified according to quality management DIN EN ISO 13485 for medical devices.
In April 2012 a new era was heralded by the installation of Sven Scharenberg, the founder’s son, (technical management) as the responsible managing partner.
Dermatology
In 1983 tpm® started the development of a high frequency ultrasound system for dermatology in cooperation with the Dermatology Clinic of the University Eppendorf (UKE) in Hamburg/Germany. After three years of intensive research and development, tpm® was proud to introduce in 1986 the first commercially available A/B digital ultrasound system worldwide – the DUB20 with 20 MHz, designed especially for dermatology and cosmetic use. In 1988 we received the 510k registration from the FDA (USA) for the DUB® systems.
The finest resolution and superior quality of signal processing and image analysis are pre-eminent for the DUB® SkinScanner systems. The DUB® provides continuous and rapid high resolution ultrasonography to exacting scientists. Options like 3D and X-Scan for volume measurement, Vacu Elasto for measurements of skin elasticity and other software-extensions are available. Further developments for higher quality, better reproducibility, faster imaging and especially the usage of higher frequencies have never stopped.
The product range now spans frequencies from 18 MHz to 100 MHz. Nearly all DUB® SkinScanner systems are available as portable USB versions. This broad range of devices provides a resolution (axial) from 88 μm to 16 μm. The easy-to-operate DUB® for Windows® software works with almost all Microsoft® operating systems up to Windows® 10 with 32 and 64 Bit. The newest version is also fully compatible with touchscreen computers.
Ophthalmology
Currently we are finalizing a new development for measuring the ocular perfusion pressure and the ocular perfusion reserve in cooperation with scientifical working and researching ophthalmologists.
